2022 Pie & AI Ambassador Spotlight: Deepak Sai Pendyala

Why did you join the DeepLearning.AI community as an event ambassador?

Pie & AI reaches underserved communities and highlights the importance of data science, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. As an undergrad, I’m always enthusiastic about learning and exploring various technologies. AI and its capabilities caught my eyes right away. As an IoT student ambassador for my college campus, I always aim to connect AI and IoT, making something new out of it. As the event ambassador of DeepLearning.AI, I get the opportunity to network with people from AI and ML backgrounds. I was fortunate to come across the ambassador opportunity and was glad to start organizing events.

What do you do when you are not hosting events with DeepLearning.AI

I’m currently in my 2nd year pursuing a Bachelors in Technology degree in the field of Electrical and Computer Engineering. I am also an Intel IoT Student Ambassador. I founded the Intel IoT Club on my campus and now has 300+ community members. I’m currently working on machine learning, web development, and IoT. I always try to help people find exciting careers and give technical help and motivational support.

Describe a few highlights from your event ambassador experience.

A few highlights of my event ambassador journey would be getting the opportunity to speak at events such as Breaking into AI, doing industrial training at the Intel OpenVINO Training Session, and conducting competitions like Blog-A-Thon. These gave me great experience as an organizer and speaker. I also enjoyed interacting with and supporting all the attendees.

What have you learned/gained since joining the DeepLearning.AI community?

As an ambassador, I have met incredible people and learned from their experiences. It was very satisfying to help people and to exchange knowledge with the community. I was fortunate to have the opportunity to grow my skills by being in a shared space with people of common interest. The support and recognition given to me as an ambassador improved my experience, and I wouldn’t have had it any other way.
